Fin & Fire Fly Shop in Redmond Oregon is excited to announce that Jeff Currier will be in-store all day (9am to 5pm) on April 26th. Jeff will be conducting 4 Power Point presentations on a great mix of topics.
The event is free to the public and is always very popular. This is Jeff's third visit to our shop and each year his visit is one of the most talked about events for fly fishers in the region. Don't miss out!
The presentations are scheduled for 10am, Noon, 2pm and 4pm and are as follows:
10am Improve Your Fishing Photography
In “Improve Your Fishing Photography”, Jeff tells you what cameras and phone he uses and explains what exactly it is that makes a good photograph. Then he breaks down how to take better “hero shots”, “fish portraits”, “landscapes” and “action shots”. He also has helpful advice on how to build your own show from that recent fishing trip. All his tips are simple and will help anyone take a better fishing photo – and the photos he uses to get his point across will leave you in disbelief.
12pm Tricks and Tactics for the World's Best Flats
“Tricks and Tactics for the World’s Best Flats” is an entertaining journey to many of the planets most extraordinary flats. The show reviews equipment and flies then teaches tactics for approaching a flat, finding fish and the tricks Jeff uses for many specific species. You are guaranteed to marvel over the many destinations shown from Belize and Mexico to the Seychelles and the under fished waters of the Red Sea of Sudan. Jeff even includes a segment about his recent trip to the beach flats of Oman.
Expect to be in awe at the many different fish species from the usual bonefish and permit to the lesser known trevally, snapper and grouper species. There’s no doubt that this is yet another tighten your seat belt and hang on PowerPoint presentation by Jeff!
2pm Fly Fishing for Carp - A 20lb Fish Near Home
If you haven’t stalked a carp with your fly rod yet you are missing out. Most of us have them in the neighborhood. They are often huge, always spooky and present the ultimate presentation challenges. They are perfectly designed to test even the best fly fishing skills.
Join Jeff as he teaches you about the different species of carp found here in the US. Learn the tricks for finding them and what their feeding behaviors are. Find out what size rods and reels you need to target them. Best of all Jeff will show you his favorite flies and tactics he uses to fool these elusive giants.
4pm Streamer Tricks for More and Larger Trout
When Jeff arrived on the scene in Jackson Hole, Wyoming back in 1987 he was a dry fly fishing purist. He nymphed and tossed streamers on occasion but he spent most of his time at places like the Henry’s Fork targeting the best hatches. As Jeff made friends and found older mentors he picked up on the fact that they often caught bigger trout with streamers so he began learning the art of streamer fishing for himself.
It didn’t take long for Jeff to become proficient with the streamers and soon he was tweaking techniques. Some of his tricks worked so well that other anglers came to him with their questions – especially after he won the famous Jackson Hole One Fly with a streamer!
Join Jeff as he talks about the equipment he likes from rods to lines to picking the right fly, how to rig multiple flies, stripping speeds and overall methods.
Please join us on Saturday April 26th! The event is free and we will have ample seating. Enjoy one or more presentations as Jeff is one of the best in the business! The taps will be flowing and we will have some light snacks on hand as well. Come early for the best seats and a chance to chat with Jeff or purchase one of his great gifts.
